Large parts of England and Wales are set to be blanketed in heavy snow today. The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for most of Wales and a long stretch of western England from 5am to 6pm on Saturday.

The forecaster has predicted snow heavy enough to bring traffic to a grinding halt in some areas. Dark clouds will provide a constant shower of heavy rain first thing, which will turn to sleet and then snow as the morning goes on.

By lunchtime areas across the western parts of the isle could see the inches of snow building up. Hill tops in Wales will receive the brunt of the snow, with a low chance of as much as 12inches falling in higher parts of the north. Have you been caught up in the bad weather?
