The Ministry of Defence said 297 personnel from the British Army and Royal Marines will assist in helping areas impacted by Storm Arwen.
They will be conducting door-to-door checks on vulnerable people in their homes while providing reassurance to local communities.
Eighty soldiers of 4 Royal Artillery have been deployed to Northumberland to carry out the checks and identify where additional support may be required.
