Britain could be plunged into freezing temperatures before Christmas as Storm Carrie is set to hit the country. If the storm reaches the 'right' levels of pressure, it could bring with it a so-called 'snowbomb,' blanketing areas of the country in snow.

Temperatures are expected to plummet to 1C, according to Ventusky weather charts. Low cloud and fog are also expected over the entirety of the country although Scotland and Wales may see some sunny spells.
