Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

Gogglebox WILL air tonight as C4 vows to bring 'sense of continuity' for viewers

Channel 4 has confirmed that Gogglebox will air as planned this evening (Friday 9 September). There had been some speculation over whether it would be pulled as regular programming has been adjusted across the wider network in the wake of the Queen's death.

A two hour news special will go ahead this evening between 7to 9pm but Channel 4 has confirmed to OK! that Gogglebox will be on as usual at 9pm.

A spokesperson said: "Channel 4 has made significant changes to our schedule, including added extended news coverage, to ensure that Channel 4 is respectful following the news from Buckingham Palace about the death of Her Majesty The Queen." They added: "Channel 4 exists to offer viewers an alternative and that is particularly important at times like this.

Gogglebox is a much loved national institution and it will air as planned tonight bringing a valuable sense of continuity for many of our viewers.” In the wake of the Queen's death, and as the country enters a 10-day period of national mourning, TV schedules across all major stations and channels have been altered as a mark of respect.
