Gino D’Acampo has told of how he feared he would die in a racing smash that left him covered in petrol. The TV chef, 43, tried a desert dune buggy challenge with pals Gordon Ramsay and Fred Sirieix while they filmed ITV’s American Roadtrip.
And he ended up losing control and ploughing into their camper van, parked by the racetrack. Gino said: “We did the Baja 400.
I had a really big accident. "I cut Gordon to win and lost control, and went straight into the van. I was going 70 or 80mph and I thought, ‘I’m going to die’." He added: "The thing that scared me most was my fuel tank burst, I had petrol all over me. “Fifteen seconds later Gordon smashed his buggy into the wall of the racetrack.
