Lanarkshire Live Sport revealed last month that the former Dundee, Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock star had held talks with MTC Park boss Willie Kinniburgh.
However the deal appeared to be off as Harkins took to Twitter to confirm his retirement after leaving League Two side Stenhousemuir.
Despite the announcement Kinniburgh has today revealed that the West of Scotland Conference B outfit have pulled off a sensational signing coup.The gaffer, who played alongside the midfielder during his time at the Jags between 2007-09, is delighted to have convinced the 35-year-old to keep playing at the Airdrie outfit.
