The first Cold Weather Payments of the 2021/22 winter season were triggered by a persistent drop in temperatures across Scotland over the festive period between December 19 and 28.
Eligible households affected by the cold snap are now set to receive £25 over the next few days to help cover additional costs for their heating bills, which will be paid automatically by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) into their bank account.
Cold Weather Payments are issued by the DWP when the average daily temperature for the last seven days falls below zero, or the average temperature for that day and the next six days is forecast to be 0ºC or below.
