Armadale Thistle jumped to the top of the East of Scotland Conference X table after edging out a feisty five-goal derby thriller away to Whitburn.A pulsating first-half saw four goals, another disallowed, numerous meaty challenges, a penalty, great saves, the woodwork hit and the bumper crowd enjoying some friendly banter with both sets of players.But the Dale took control of proceedings when they edged in front three minutes after the break when an offside Robbie Feeney ran through and slotted home what would prove to be the winner.The three points sees Thistle climb to the summit for the first time all season - albeit having played more than others in the promotion race.That the game would be fast-paced and high energy was evident within the first 10 minutes as both sides went close to opening the scoring as Stuart McIntyre headed over for the Burnie before Feeney was denied by the onrushing Daniel Potts in the Whitburn goal.A bruising collision between Louis Maguire and Ruari MacLennan in the middle of the park set the tone for a game that featured more than its fair share of clattering challenges.Connor Shaw did well to parry a free-kick at his near post but he was helpless on 15 minutes when McIntyre was found unmarked six yards out by Darren Liddell to smash home the game’s first goal.Whitburn’s lead, though, would last just three minutes.
