Weekly Covid infection rates are dropping in the UK, but a World Health Organisation (WHO) expert has said that the pandemic isn't over yet.
On Sunday (23 January) the nation recorded a further 74,799 coronavirus infections, marking a 15% week-on-week drop. It comes as Scotland and Wales lift the measures imposed in response to the Omicron variant which has wreaked havoc across the globe.
And last week, Boris Johnson announced that Plan B measures such as the mandatory use of face coverings and Covid Passes will not be renewed once the they expire.
From Wednesday January 26, face coverings will not be legally required in any public places, the government said, while venues will get to decide whether they want to continue asking for Covid Passes on entry.
