The cost of living crisis has hit millions from all around the country with many Brits wondering how they’ll tackle a rise in bills.
On Thursday it seemed there could be an answer to questions over the rise in energy bills when the Chancellor announced a new package of support that gives families on benefits a one off £650 payment.
Rishi Sunak said the help provided would go towards “millions of the most vulnerable people in our society”. He added that he had offered “significant support” for households who were facing “acute distress” and the payment would come in two parts.
The £650 payment is known as the Cost of Living Payment and available to those on these benefits: Income-based Jobseekers Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Pension Credit.
