A fire started by an overloaded ventilator killed five coronavirus patients in an intensive care unit. The blaze broke out in a hospital in the city of St.

Petersburg on Tuesday, Russia’s emergency ministry confirmed. Hospital officials have not confirmed how many people were killed in the accident, but local reports say five coronavirus patients lost their lives.

Russian authorities said 150 people had been evacuated from the hospital, as the country’s Covid-19 infected rose by 11,656 on Monday.

A source told Interfax news agency "ventilators are at their limit" in the Russian capital and the machine "overloaded" and caught fire.
