At the height of the blaze, seven fire engines were at the scene on Clarence Street in Lower Broughton. Flames were tackled from above by firefighters on an aerial platform.
A fire service drone was also sent up to monitor pockets of fire and hot spots within the two-storey building from above. No one was hurt.
Firefighters entered the building wearing breathing apparatus and managed to confine the blaze to just one area of a much-larger complex.
