This movie release won’t be so fast or furious. Universal Pictures announced Thursday the latest installment of the “Fast & Furious” franchise, “F9,” is being delayed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The release date for the movie starring Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson will now be set for April 2, 2021, in North America.

The ninth “Fast & Furious” movie was originally set to be released two months from now on May 22. “While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration,” the movie’s official Twitter wrote in a statement. “Moving will allow our global family to experience our new chapter together.” The new date
