manchestereveningnews.co.ukhereLast week Morecambe Lifeboat volunteers launched the inshore rescue lifeboat following reports of “multiple groups of people” cut off by the incoming tide near the Boardwalk pub.When rescuers arrived at the scene last Thursday evening (July 30) they found that eight people had safely made their way to the shore, but four were still playing on the beach “unaware of the incoming tide surrounding them”.RNLI volunteers alerted the people to the incoming tide.A HM Coastguard Rescue team from Morecambe assisted two adults and two children in crossing a small channel of water to enable them to get safely to the shore with the rescue hovercraft put on stand-by.Trevor McMeeking, RNLI volunteer Helmsman said: “The ever changing tides and gullies.
