FA Council members have voted “overwhelmingly in favour” of upholding the decision to void the season across Non-League, women’s and grassroots football.
It came after the 118 strong council voted by email to end the campaign for all Non-League steps below the National League and all but the top two tiers of the women's game, with all results expunged.
FA chairman Greg Clarke had delivered an emotional speech to members to earlier in the week admitting drastic steps would have to be taken because the coronavirus had been “worse than their wildest dreams.” That has prompted the Council to take the action despite the fierce backlash from Non-League clubs who have been angered their results will now count for nothing.
