Despite people’s pleas for a bank holiday as a result of England reaching the Euros final, Downing Street has said it is not being considered.
Boris Johnson’s official spokesman said: “We’ll be talking to the FA to identify a suitable way for the Prime Minister to thank the players and coaching staff for their efforts.” However, a bank holiday is “not something that is being considered,” following England’s heartbreaking defeat to Italy in the Euros final.
It was reported that the Prime Minister was looking at making Friday August 27 an extra public holiday if the England team had brought it home on Sunday.
