The former Liverpool star was given his marching orders after an altercation with Neymar in the closing moments of the second leg encounter.
PSG were 2-1 down from the first-leg but overturned the result in the second with a 2-0 victory. With Dortmund chasing a goal that would have taken the match to extra-time, tempers flared.
English referee Anthony Taylor was the man to show the red card to Can for being deemed to have pushed Neymar during a scuffle.
