Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.
In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Emile Smith Rowe admits Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes has been a player he's looked up to following his excellent start to life in England.
The Arsenal youngster has been given more opportunities recently and played a starring role in the win over Newcastle on Monday night.
Smith Rowe teamed up with Bukayo Saka to score the second of the Gunners' three goals at the Emirates. The 20-year-old is one of the most exciting prospects at Arsenal, but he concedes he looks to the Red Devils playmaker for inspiration.
Fernandes has just won his fourth Player of the Month award as he continues to be the heartbeat for United. And his influence has not gone unnoticed by Smith Rowe who continues to stake his case for selection.
