EastEnders audiences are divided about the soap’s latest storyline concerning villain Ruby Allen’s endometriosis diagnosis. While many are applauding the long-running drama for highlighting the crippling gynaecological condition that affects one in ten women, others are upset by the unrealistic portrayal of what it’s like to receive a diagnosis.

In the latest episode, Ruby, who has accused former friend Stacey of deliberately causing her miscarriage last month, is informed by her gynaecologist that she could have endometriosis.

In a panic, she quizzes the doctor about whether she can still get pregnant as she’s ‘healthy’ only to be told that further tests will need to be carried out to see how her fertility has been affected.
