Dramatic footage from a fire at popular Bournemouth Beach shows it ripping up a hill as witness claim it was started by someone cooking in a beach hut.
A huge fire broke out on the Dorset beach seafront earlier today as crowds of sunbathers fled to safety. The blaze ripped up the hillside overlooking the crowded beach as firefighters battled to contain the flames.
The fire took hold just and spread just yards from the four-star Highlcliff Marriott Hotel on the clifftop. Thick smoke billowed up the heath-covered slops and straight into the hotel at its peak, causing guests and staff to be evacuated.
