Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee has refused to say Presidents should commit to a peaceful transfer of power. Judge Amy Coney Barrett avoided a string of questions during her Senate confirmation hearing today.
But Democrat Senator Cory Booker was left stunned when she declined to answer his questions on Presidents peacefully leaving office.
If confirmed before the election, Judge Barrett could prove pivotal to legal challenges to the outcome of the November poll.
President Trump has repeatedly refused to commit to accepting the result of the election - or to refraining from claiming victory before all votes are counted.
