DOCTOR Who's former show boss has revealed the female Time Lord he wished he’d cast ahead of Jodie Whittaker. Jodie, 37, was announced as the first female Doctor in 2017 and was subsequently introduced in that year's Christmas Special.

However, former show runner Russell T Davies has revealed who he would have chosen to be the first female incarnation of the Time Lord when he was in charge.

As he tweeted along to a rerun of series four episodes The Stolen Earth and Journey's End, Russell discussed what he would have done if he could do it all again.

The episode saw David Tennant getting shot by a Dalek before returning to the TARDIS and regenerating, and Russell tweeted: "If I had my time again…I'd have MILKED that.
