Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

‘Disrespectful’ Channel 4 ‘deepfake’ Queen’s speech hit with Ofcom complaints

supports HTML5 videoChannel 4’s ‘deepfake’ version of the Queen’s speech has been flooded with Ofcom complaints.The broadcaster used digital trickery to make an actress look like Queen Elizabeth II for what had been billed as a warning about misinformation and fake news, however many took offence to the programme and branded it ‘disrespectful’.

Television watchdog Ofcom has confirmed 214 complained about the alternative Christmas message, which aired opposite the BBC’s broadcast of the official annual video.A spokesperson added: ‘We are assessing these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate.’The speech included jokes about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s departure from the UK, as well.
