Beloved Manchester singer Denise Johnson has died aged 53, it has been confirmed.The late songstress is remembered for her vocals on the Primal Scream album Screamadelica, performing with the group throughout the 90s.Due to release her debut solo album on September 25, Johnson's cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
The singer had reportedly fallen ill in the week prior to her death but had assured her friends she was feeling "much better" on Friday.
After news of her death broke, Happy Mondays star Rowetta paid tribute to Johnson's life and legacy as a vocalist. She said: "Sad sad news today."I have so many great memories of Denise from when we were young.
