Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Norwich City have announced Dean Smith as their new manager following the dismissal of Daniel Farke in early November.Smith has only been out of work for just over a week following his dismissal at Aston Villa, having been replaced by Steven Gerrard, who left Rangers to take the post.The Canaries have struggled so far this season, and Smith faces a sizeable task to turn their fortunes around.The 50-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and will be joined in Norfolk by assistant head coach Craig Shakespeare.Smith said: “It has been a whirlwind seven days, but I’m really pleased to be back and working for Norwich City in the Premier League.“Clearly, there has been some wonderful work that has gone into this football club over.
