Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Rangers are getting ever closer to appointing Giovanni van Bronckhorst as Steven Gerrard's managerial successor. But there's no use in the former Barcelona and Arsenal man waiting around for the call. He's out of work at the moment and so you'd imagine he's got time to spend drawing up an Ibrox blueprint for success.
Director of football Ross Wilson faces just as much work to get the Dutchman's entourage over the line as the main man and a peek over the city at Celtic's Eddie Howe fiasco shows just how seriously modern managers take the idea of being able to bring in their own team.
He can't afford Van Bronckhorst to follow a similar pattern and neither can Rangers. as a whole with big games on the horizon. Get all the latest Rangers news
