David Jason reveals he ends up close to tears over one Only Fools and Horses episode

David Jason has revealed his favourite episode of Only Fools And Horses - and said watching it is so poignant he almost has to close his eyes.

The actor starred as Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter in the sitcom - which ran from 1981 to 2003 - and said picking his best episode was a "knotty" question.

However, according to The Sun, he said that if he had to choose one to keep it would be the 1989 special The Jolly Boys' Outing. READ MORE: Only Fools and Horses voted 'most loved' BBC show beating out Strictly and Doctor WhoDavid, 82, opened up in his book The Twelve Dels Of Christmas, highlighting a scene where the cast are on board a coach to Margate.The star said that although the programme would go on to get bigger, with massive audiences, that segment showed the "magic" of the show "and the sheer fun of it all"."And so many of those faces no longer with us, of course," he said.Referring to Boycie star John Challis, who died last year, he said: "Nowadays the glimpse of John Challis reaching across to swipe my hat off is so poignant that I practically have to close my eyes, and the whole thing is a world that’s gone."So if someone were to ask me to sum up what, at its very best, it felt like to be in the cast of Only Fools And Horses, I would tell them to watch that sequence.
