Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Former Rangers star Dapo Mebude has been rushed to hospital in Belgium after suffering life-threatening injuries in a horror car crash.Leading Belgian outlet HLN states the 22-year-old crashed into a tree at an exit in Loppem on Sunday and was rushed to hospital.
Mebude has been in Belgium since 2022 and came through the ranks at Ibrox where he, and brother Dire, were regarded as top talents within the club's academy.
He made his senior debut under Steven Gerrard against Kilmarnock in 2019. A second report from Belgian states emergency services freed Mebude from the wreckage before he was rushed straight to hospital for further treatment.
It's understood Mebude was travelling to a practice match which has now been cancelled. A brief statement from his club Oostende read: “Our thoughts are with Dapo and his family".
