Dancing On Ice is full of glitz, glamour, bright lights and loud music, but some of the show’s previous competitors have had a tough time making it to the end.Some have had to pull out due to injury, some have left due to personal reasons and some have been refused entry altogether.The show began in January 2006 and has been a fan-favourite ever since, raking in thousands upon thousands of viewers every week.The annual competition begins in January and sees a host of celebrities try their hand at a few dangerous stunts and a sprinkling of skating skills in an attempt to win the show.Read on to discover the celebrities who had a rocky road to recovery after their stint on the ITV show.The former presenter broke his wrist during training for the competition in 2019 and was forced to pull out, but things were looking up and he was set to return for the 2021 series.Despite a promise from Phillip Schofield that he could return, bosses had different ideas and decided he would not be part of the programme.His appearance was set to be his big comeback but a documentary, titled Barrymore: Body in the Pool, aired on Channel 4 which ITV producers may have seen as bad press.Twenty years prior to the documentary, Stuart Lubbock was allegedly sexually assaulted before his body was found in Michael’s pool.Nobody has ever been convicted of anything relating to the death, and Michael has always denied any involvement.It was a chaotic year in 2021 for the ice-skating show as multiple celebrities dropped like flies due to health reasons.Entertainer Denise Van Outen took to Instagram to tell fans that she had pulled out due to a shoulder injury, with fractures in three places.Disappointingly, she remained out for the rest of the series much.
