Dean Davies, 22, is believed to have cost Openreach million so pounds by stealing batteries from boxes across Worcestershire with brother Maurice Davies, 33, and pal Michael Smith, 21.Worcester Crown Court heard how the trio donned high-visibility jackets before nicking the batteries in broad daylight – then selling them for scrap.Each box contains four £500 batteries which provide backup in case of a power cut.Last year gangs stole £3million worth of batteries from boxes across the UK.Dean was locked up for over two years.
