A man carrying a firearm loaded with blanks was rugby-tackled by a hero teacher outside a college in Sussex, witnesses say. Two staff members were hurt in the shocking incident, which saw counter-terrorism officers dispatched from nearby Gatwick Airport this afternoon.
Staff and students were evacuated from Crawley College at around 3.20pm, when shots were reportedly fired. None of those injured suffered gunshot wounds, police said, but the hero teacher is believed to be one of the casualties.
