Covid roadblocks could hit New Years Eve as fears grow of police clashes

anti-lockdown protesters were planning a major demonstration on December 31.It's believed the demonstration will follow clashes that occurred on Saturday that saw 29 people arrested, reports The Telegraph.Concerns are growing over New Year's Eve as it may coincide with potential clashes over Brexit if people ignore Covid rules restricting gatherings.In January, people were given the go-ahead for people to meet at Big Ben to mark Brexit, ahead of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, events and large gatherings across the year have been suspended or cancelled due to social distancing measures.Big Ben is set to mark the moment the Brexit transition ends at 11pm UK time, which is midnight in Brussels.Although there are currently no planned events.
