lockdowns has been offered a glimmer of hope by experts from University College London (UCL).They say that a combination of Covid-19 vaccinations, better weather and herd immunity could see life returning to somewhere near normal by July.Their findings echo the work of Sage's, Professor Andrew Hayward who says that once everyone over 50 and those with chronic illnesses have had their coronavirus jabs, there could be a "significant" return to normality.The UCL researchers say the all-important R rate has declined nationally by Tuesday February 2 to somewhere in the region of 0.65 to 0.86 – a significant improvement on the most recent figure of 0.7 to 1.1.A rate of 0.65 means that for every 100 confirmed cases, only 65 carriers will infect.
