Council apologises to parents after schoolkids sent out in rain

Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.Education bosses have been forced to apologise to parents after some Renfrewshire schoolchildren were sent out on their breaktimes in torrential rain.Councillor Jim Sheridan, who represents Linwood, Houston and Crosslee, questioned what the council's current position was on sending children outside during the school day at a board meeting, after discovering pupils in his ward had been sat in class with wet clothes on.Steven Quinn, director of children's services, said while the council is encouraging outdoor learning more as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, there had been occasions recently where pupils had mistakenly been sent out in heavy.
