Corrie's Lydia actress says there's 'lots of hate' for her as she quits ITV soap

Coronation Street’s Rebecca Ryan, who plays troublemaker Lydia, told Lorraine Kelly that fans of the show aren’t best pleased with her character’s behaviour.Rebecca, who wore her long dark hair styled in front of her shoulder with a black jacket, spoke to Lorraine, who wore a blue and purple puffed sleeve shirt, about her character in the soap.Lydia returned to the cobbles and immediately sought out revenge for Adam.Rebecca confirmed that Lydia is “out there for revenge” and thinks that it is partially fuelled by the fact that he didn’t remember her when he saw her again.Lorraine asked Ryan what the ”public’s reaction” has been towards her as now we’re allowed “out and about”, to which she replied: “I’m quite hated at the minute, let’s just say that.”The presenter complimented her and said that the response means that she is “doing her job well,” before Rebecca went on to admit that there is “a lot of hate out there” because she is a “terrible character”.The 30 year old also said that although she read the scripts and performed the scenes, whenever she watches herself on screen she “sits back” in shock.Lorraine asked her whether she was in Emmerdale for a bit, which she confirmed, and also admitted to starring in another classic British show.“Watching Lorraine, actress Rebecca Ryan is on and I was thinking: ‘Where have I seen you before?’ She played Debbie in Shameless,” tweeted out one fan.Another said: “I’ve only just realised that it’s Debbie from Shameless, I was only watching it again last night.”A fan on Twitter tweeted that they think “Lydia is out to destroy Adam” because they speculate that he is the “father of her son”.Fans have been wondering how far Lydia will go to destroy Adam’s life as she once told him.
