In the worst case scenario the Cambridge University's MRC Biostatistics Unit predict deaths will likely have reached between 619 and 899 in England on Friday, January 1, 2021.
Yesterday, 207 people died in UK hospitals as a new strain of the coronavirus rips through parts of the country. In England 190 died in hospital, 10 died in Wales and seven lost their lives in Northern Ireland and no new deaths were reported in Scotland.
The MRC Biostatics model suggests deaths could increase by more than four times in just 10 days. The Cambridge team estimates daily new infections occurring each day currently stands
