Coronavirus related storylines will be added to Coronation Street and Emmerdale, ITV has revealed. John Whiston, the Managing Director of Continuing Drama at ITV, has said the soaps will include scenes informing the public about how to take precautions to limit the spread of the virus.
It comes as the UK coronavirus death toll yesterday rose to 55 while there have now been 1,543 cases, with more than 7,000 now dead globally.
Yesterday the government advised the public to avoid pubs, clubs and restaurants and work from home wherever possible to slow the spread of the highly contagious and infectious disease.
