Coronavirus: NHS workers greeted with applause and flowers by Tesco staff

NHS staff were reduced to tears after they were greeted with flowers and applause at UK supermarkets during a dedicated shopping hour for key workers so they can obtain essential items.

Panic-buying sparked by the coronavirus pandemic has seen supermarket shelves stripped of toilet roll, rice, pasta and other staples such as tinned foods.

Last week critical care nurse Dawn Bilbrough, 51, made an emotional plea to the public to stop depriving others of basic goods when she was left empty handed after finishing a 48-hour shift.

The panic-buying has prompted supermarket chains such as Sainsbury's, Tesco, Morrisons and Iceland. Today workers at a supermarket in Swansea, Wales, lined up at the entrance and clapped as nurses and doctors walked
