The Co-op has announced plans to open 50 new stores by Christmas, including outlets in Wrexham, London, Poole, Leeds and Guildford.
The retail giant - which has hundreds of convenience stores across the UK - said the new branches will open in the coming months and create 1,000 jobs in the process.
It said it will open three stores a week in the run up to December 31, as officials remain in talks for a 'mini lockdown' in Britain.
The move will involve 50 new openings, 15 store expansions and 100 store renovations as part of a £130million investment. Twelve new Co-op franchise stores will also follow this winter, including at Oxford Brookes University and Stirling University - with more student locations planned for 2021.
