Efforts to save Balfron’s only remaining bank service have taken another turn for the worse after a new closure date was revealed. The village’s Bank of Scotland branch was one of 15 across the country earmarked for closure on August 17 as a result of a downturn in-person transactions and “changing customer behaviours”.
However, the onset of the coronavirus pandemic gave the beleaguered branch a reprieve as the bank vowed to provide essential services and make access to cash easier for its customers.
