Why the classic bob is the easiest forever hairstyle
A post shared by LUKE HERSHESON (@lukehersheson)It's not just celebrities who are following suit. An increasing number of salon clients are requesting to snip off a few extra inches, now more than ever: "Since Covid-19 came about, clients definitely seem to be opting for manageable hairstyles, including the bob. "People are becoming more conscious of their hair health and choosing to part with damaged hair as opposed to holding on to damaged lengths," says Davide Dossola, a senior stylist and colourist at London’s Neville Hair and Beauty destination. A post shared by George Northwood (@georgenorthwood)Keeping dull and damaged strands at bay is one of my own motives behind sticking to the bob, together with less prep time and less product, which as Dossola agrees, quite literally takes the weight off the shoulders. If you are tempted by a new look, first and foremost, Dossola suggests considering whether there’s room for a shorter length in your day-to-day: "For example, if a client goes to the gym and wants a short bob, it will not be practical if they cannot tie their hair up." I personally always carry out the ‘hair tie test’ while having a trim to make sure I have no surprises when I get home. Secondly, just like having a fringe, a shorter cut can mean frequent visits to the salon to maintain it, so this is something to consider if your schedule is often booked up. Most of the time, applying less heat to our hair can benefit its long-term health and may even pro-long time between appointments.
