Kurt Zouma's cat kicking is worse than racism after slamming West Ham for starting him in the Premier League. The former Liverpool and England goalkeeper appeared on BBC Breakfast on Wednesday (February 9) morning to give his thoughts on the viral video in which Zouma kicked and slapped his pet cat.

The 40-year-old then received a huge backlash on social media after questioning why the FA didn't have the same response as they do to cases of racism and biting opponents.Having said during the interview that animal abuse was "if anything" worse than racism and biting, he took to Twitter to outline his stance.Alongside the caption: "Hopefully this clears the Kurt Zouma West Ham situation up with my comments, absolutely nothing was meant by my comments."Kirkland said on his personal Twitter account : "Hi, just a quick video I know a lot of people seem to be offended and listen I totally understand with what I said this morning about obviously the Kurt Zouma situation. "Obviously I mentioned racism about if players have been banned before.

I know it's said that I said it's possibly worse but what I meant was - animals can't defend themselves."They've not got a voice obviously as human's have."But listen, racism it goes without saying is an absolute disgrace anyone who does that should be locked up, people know how I feel about that.

I don't have to say that."But yeah it was just in the context that animals can't defend themselves and they've not got a voice so I meant it in that way, not obviously the other way so, I hope that clears it up and yeah, take care everybody." Earlier on BBC Breakfast, Kirkland had said: "Everywhere they go now, and everywhere he goes, he's going to be targeted and rightly so as well.
