Good Morning Britain because ITV has “freedom of speech, unlike the BBC”.The host made the admission in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk and stood by his comments regarding Kurt Zouma and West Ham.Richard explained: “On ITV we are allowed a lot of latitude in terms of giving your personal comment because we are not a state-funded broadcast.“So, within reason, you can say what you personally think.”Richard then turned the conversation to “cat-kicking footballer” Kurt Zouma, whom he has fiercely criticised on-air.On GMB earlier this month, the presenter said it was “shameless and contempt of public opinion” that West Ham allowed him to play following the release of the shocking video.Standing by his comments, Richard asserted: “You wouldn’t have a BBC presenter allowed to say they thought he was a disgrace or, as I did, that West Ham were shameless in allowing him to play.“And they were shameless.

On one hand they were telling everybody that what he has done is unforgivable, that they were going to discipline him internally and that they don’t condone that terrible behaviour.“And what do they do 12 hours later?

Put him on the pitch! It was two fingers to the public.“You couldn’t say that on the BBC, but I can because I’m on ITV.”Despite celebrating the “freedom of speech” that comes with working for ITV, Richard admitted that this freedom can have a downfall. He noted that he has to constantly “self-censor" to ensure his comments remain “fair” and “reasonable”.The host continued: “Did I run that through my own head before I said it?

Of course I did!“You’ve got legal issues to consider, and you don’t want to abuse your position, as some presenters have done. You want to say something which is fair comment but.
