China denies claims Taiwan shot down fighter jet with plane left flaming wreck

China has denied claims that Taiwan shot down one of its fighter jets. Footage has emerged of a crashed aircraft on social media, claiming to show a Sukhoi Su-35 in the southern province of Guangxi near the Taiwan Strait, which separates China and the island state.Unconfirmed reports claim the jet was fired on by Taiwan’s air defence system after incurring into its airspace.

China’s Ministry of National Defense has since labelled the allegations “completely untrue”.Dramatic footage shows the flaming wreckage of the aircraft, and an injured pilot lying on a stretcher.
