Chelsea have told fans that they are unable give away tickets to a memorial service for Peter Bonetti due to the restrictions imposed on the club by the Government.The Blues are currently operating under a number of restrictions after owner Roman Abramovich was slapped with a number of sanctions by the UK Government.
As a result, the reigning European champions are unable to sell any tickets or merchandise for the foreseeable future.And that is set to prevent the Stamford Bridge faithful from attending a service arranged for Bonetti, who sadly passed away in April 2020 at the age of 78.
The former shot-stopper has achieved legendary status for the Blues after racking up 729 appearances for the Londoners.A memorial for Bonetti on Friday is still set to go ahead, with some Chelsea fans snapping up tickets before Abramovich was sanctioned.
And the Blues had hoped that giving additional tickets away for nothing would allow more fans to attend the service.But even that violates the strict restrictions placed on the club; with the act still classed as a transaction.
