The end of the benefits freeze earlier this month brought with it an increase in a range of payments including Universal Credit, Job Seeker’s Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, Working Tax Credits and Child Benefit.
The freeze was introduced by the Conservatives in April 2016 and affected most working-age benefits and tax credits. The freeze meant that payments remained at the same rate for almost five years - rather than increasing in line with the rising cost of living in the UK.
But what about Personal Independence Payments (PIP), the benefit that’s gradually replacing Disability Living Allowance (DLA)?
