A statue of notorious Victorian imperialist Cecil Rhodes will be taken down after an anti-racism campaign, it is reported this evening.
The controversial monument at Oriel College in Oxford has been at the centre of controversy as activists called for it to be removed.
Officials at the college have now ruled it should be removed, The Telegraph reports. Critics have long branded Rhodes - whose British South Africa Company founded the territory of Rhodesia - a white supremacist and "ruthless" imperialist.
Last week thousands of Black Lives Matter protesters gathered in Oxford to demand the University remove a statue of 19th Century imperialist Rhodes.
