Caravan bosses have emphasised the importance of reopening their parks. According to those in the travel industry, some sites need to start welcoming guests again if they are to survive past the coronavirus pandemic.
Andrew Baragwanath, owner of Ayr Holiday Park in St Ives, Cornwall, revealed that the crisis has made his income tumble by a huge 96%.
He told The Sun : “We are usually open 365 days of the year. “It’s the first time I’ve closed the park in my 30 years in charge. “This April, my income was down 96 per cent on last year.” The 61-year-old, who chairs the British Holiday and Home Parks Association, wants staggered reopening to begin immediately.
