Britney Spears' brother has spoken for the first time about her conservatorship amid concern for the Hit Me Baby One More Time singer.

Bryan Spears has claimed that his superstar sister has been trying to leave the controversial contract for years that controls her finances and important life choices.

Britney was placed under a conservatorship in 2008 after her much-publicised breakdown and divorce from Kevin Federline, with whom she shares sons Preston and Jayden.

Her father James 'Jamie' Spears and temporary conservator Jodi Montgomery have been in charge of handling Britney's personal affairs over the past twelve years.
