Simon Phillip Cowell (born 7 October 1959) is an English television personality, businessman and record executive. Amanda Louise Holden (born 16 February 1971) is an English media personality, actress, television presenter, singer, and author. She has judged on the television talent show competition Britain's Got Talent since the show began its run in 2007 on ITV. As an actress, Holden played the role of Mel in Kiss Me Kate (1998–2000), Geraldine Titley in The Grimleys (1999-2001), Sarah Trevanion in Wild at Heart (2006–2008), Lizzie, the Ring Mistress, in Big Top (2009), and the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden accuses escapologist act of 'deceit'

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden accused one of the show's semi-finalists of "deceit" as the escapologist attempted one of Harry Houdini's most dangerous stunts.

The second round of the live semi-finals took place on Tuesday (May 31) and saw Andrew Basso perform The Water Torture Cell.The Italian was seen being chained by the arms and the neck and placed in a tank full of water.

The stunt was originally introduced by escape artist Houdini in 1912 and it became a staple of his stage act.Basso told viewers that he would attempt to escape but would have to figure his way out in the dark and was under water for more than three minutes, getting judges up on their feet.However, Holden clearly was not impressed with Basso's second performance after his audition in April and was brutally honest as she gave him her feedback.She said: "Well, there is a lot of work and this is dangerous but I have to say you left me disappointed this evening."I feel that your first audition, we were on the edge of our seats, I felt that it was much more intense. "And I think this evening because of the darkness and because of everything else, we were just sort of left wondering if there was less danger and more deceit going on in that tank," she added as fellow judge Simon Cowell shouted: "Deceit?
